About PVG&CC
Circa 1967, Robert Trent Jones was retained to design an 18-hole
championship quality golf course. After many meetings the course
development was started in 1968. Nine holes were opened in the Spring of
1969 and by October the full eighteen holes were played. The present
large pool and cabana were completed and in use in 1970. This preceded
the construction of housing in Panther Valley. Serving as the grillroom,
locker rooms and Pro Shops was a barn and silo later called Temperance
Hall now the Pro Shop. The Panther Valley Ledge Farm Residence aka the
“White House” was modified to serve as the dining facility and official
clubhouse. When the community was being developed, it was the intention of the builders to retain ownership of the golf club. But their business was homes not golf courses and as a result little attention was given to maintaining the golf course and the facilities. In May of 1977 the Country Club was sold to its members and renamed the Panther Valley Golf & Country Club. Funds for the purchase came from the sale of memberships. One hundred eleven proprietary certificates were sold for the sum of $3000.00 each. Over the years the number of proprietary certificates was raised to three hundred, today’s current level. In addition swimming, tennis, weekday and recently dining memberships were offered on a non-proprietary basis. Today, the membership enjoys a full service club with an annual budget approaching $4,000,000.00. Growth and improvements are ongoing endeavors and evident everywhere one looks. The Panther Valley Golf & Country Club experience begins with a breathtaking view of 1500 exquisitely landscaped acres of Northwest New Jersey countryside. It’s the same view Robert Trent Jones, Sr. had when he designed our beautiful championship golf course--a course both delightful and devilish. The uniquely challenging 18 holes have few rivals (in fact, our course is referred to as one of the 10 best in the state!). The 25,000 square foot clubhouse is nestled among the trees and has great views, particularly of the finishing hole. Two golf professionals, a practice range, and a fully equipped pro shop complete the picture. While superb golf is our main attraction, you will find other exciting activities for every member of the family. Tennis players can sharpen their game on one of three lighted professional courts--with a little help from our tennis pro, if needed. Water lovers can enjoy the two swimming pools (one for adults only) with cabana. You can end the day by relaxing with your family in our lovely clubhouse offering luxurious dining, banquet, and meeting facilities. Talking about the end of the day, enjoy the summer evenings along with most of the members, dining under the stars on our slate patio. But, we have saved the best part of our secret for last—Value. Panther Valley Golf & Country Club provides its members with surprising value compared with other facilities with similar amenities. Outstanding golf, world-class amenities, and unexpected value—no wonder Panther Valley Golf & Country Club is one of New Jersey’s best kept secrets!
